About Me
Hi, I’m glad you’re here.
My name is Francesca Caponi and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW. I also hold specialty certifications in Oncology (OSW-C), sexology (ABS), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (C-DBT). It is an alphabet of letters, I know; but really I prefer to see myself as a compassionate space for life's most intimate and challenging moments.
My journey began when I discovered my calling in grief and loss therapy. Through years of working in this deeply emotional field, I found myself drawn to the convergence of grief, loss, and intimacy in the cancer space; not long after my own cancer diagnosis. It was here that I realized the power of connection in the face of adversity, and I have since dedicated myself to helping individuals and couples find solace, healing, and even joy amidst life's most difficult moments.
I believe we deserve pleasure and intimacy at all stages of life.
My approach is both authentic and heartfelt; using person-centered and psychodynamic approaches. I understand the innate human desire for connection, yet recognize the challenges many face in navigating relationships effectively. Drawing from my own journey of learning and growth, I walk alongside my clients as they explore their deepest desires, confront their fears, acknowledge grief points, and ultimately find fulfillment in their relationships and sexuality.
As an emigrant, I bring a unique perspective to my practice. I value cultural sensitivity and the complex intersectionality each of us exist in; creating a welcoming environment where clients feel empowered to explore their identities and experiences.
I am here to support whatever you may be carrying; let’s work together to find and create the life and relationship(s) you desire!
What is Sex Therapy?
Sex therapy is a form of talk therapy aimed at exploring and understanding one's personal sexuality. It encompasses both the biological aspects of human sexual behavior and function, as well as the intricate nuances of eroticism and individual sexual experiences.
Our society often fosters shame and secrecy surrounding sexuality, inhibiting individuals from examining their relationship with sex. Sex therapy provides a safe and nonjudgmental space for individuals to explore and gain awareness of their sexuality, and to address any concerns they may have.
If you're seeking to enrich and fulfill your erotic life, I'm here to assist you. I offer personalized guidance and support for various sexual concerns, catering to individuals of all sexual orientations and gender expressions, including those in kink, polyamorous, or non-monogamous relationships. Sex therapy can address issues such as:
Differences in sexual desires between partners
Healing from past traumatic sexual experiences
Low sexual desire
Kink or fetish concerns
Enhancing intimacy and connection
Managing out-of-control sexual behaviors (including problematic porn use or sex "addiction")
Erectile dysfunction
Premature or delayed ejaculation
Navigating open relationships (polyamorous or non-monogamous dynamics)
Anxiety related to sexual experiences
Aversion to sex or feelings of disgust
Difficulty achieving orgasm
Pain during sexual activity
And many other concerns
HOW DOES COUPLE THERAPY WORK? Couple therapy sessions are designed to facilitate open communication between partners on topics that may feel stuck or emotionally charged. Counseling provides a structured framework and guidance for partners to express themselves effectively and listen attentively to each other.
Couples seek therapy for various reasons, such as premarital counseling, addressing issues after an affair, resolving conflicts, reigniting passion, or simply fine-tuning their relationship dynamics. With the therapist's assistance, couples collaborate to identify and implement solutions to challenges they may not have recognized previously.
Engaging in couple therapy with me involves active participation. I work efficiently to help couples break free from recurring patterns and develop new ways of relating to each other.
What is Oncosexology?

With compassionate care and expertise, I provide tailored guidance to address concerns such as changes in libido, body image issues, and sexual function changes due to treatment. My goal is to empower patients to reclaim their sexual well-being and find fulfillment during and after cancer treatment. If you're seeking expert support to navigate this journey with resilience and dignity, I'm here to help.
